a little ice cream & learning to like each other

I had to go to a Pre-K in service today. I learned some good information about Pre-K and was able to have lunch with my assistant. I wish all restaurant gave just this much ice cream for free.
Can you see Gypsy hissing at the kitten? That is how she feels about having her here.
The kitten is not phased by the hissing.
She wants to get just a little closer.
The kitten checking Gypsy out really good!
Success, she is quiet, asleep and no one is having to hold her.
Gypsy finally decided she would come back in our room and lay near me. She looks HUGE compared to the kitten.

back to work I go

Today is the first day I had to officially be back to work. I have been at the school for the last two weeks working in my room. I am always excited to get back in our normal routine and meet my new students, but I am also very sad to give up having so much time to spend with Derrick, Hannah and Hunter.
Hunter always comes in the bathroom with me while I am getting ready. He is not thrilled about going to school still but I am hoping this week will be better. He was happy to have the kitten to hang out with him while he talked to me.
One area of my room that is completely ready. I can't tell you how excited I am to be in Pre-K this year!
Look who was happy for me to get home and sit down for a minute. I am happy she is quiet.

randomness

I love when the kids help me do things. I love the smile they get on their sweet faces when I tell them thanks for helping or they did a great job!

Our new little friend is rather LOUD. Derrick did a little research about what to feed kittens and learned they need cat's milk. He has gone to the store to get some now. I hope that will help quiet the kitten down. I had to put my hoodie on because it is scratching me to death and wants to sit in the hood under my hair. I this point I am doing whatever I can to keep it quiet.

swim meet and a cute find

The shark is getting better each time.
Hannah is excited to swim the breaststroke for the first time today.
 Ready to the backstroke.
And she is off! GO, Hannah, GO!!!!
No you are not seeing things, that is a kitten in the school with Hunter.
Yes, now the kitten is at our house. We could not leave it crying and alone at the school when it is hot outside and there is no mama cat to be seen.
She loves Hunter and follows him everywhere.
 She has pretty markings.
 She likes the cat tower.
Sitting with me for a few minute. I am just glad she is quiet. She has a  really loud meow.
Sleeping with Derrick and the kids while they watch a movie. She has to be touching someone.

Hannah is a little scared of her. She does not like that she scratches. You would think she is a lion the way Hannah yells when the kitten runs after her or tries to climb on her.
The first meeting was successful I guess. Gypsy just hissed at her and then walked away. It went better than I thought it would. Hopefully Monday at school I will be able to figure out who the kitten belongs to or someone will want her.

last day of summer

I have to be back at work on Monday and Hannah starts to school August 1. She is a trooper about going to school with me and helping me in my room. I told her I would take her to lunch. Sonic was her pick. She made this beautiful butterfly while we waited for our food.

it will get better

This has been a rough week for Hunter. He loved the first day of school and when in with no problem. The next day there were tears. The next day there were even more tears. He only tells me he does not want to go. His teachers say he is fine after we leave and may cry or get weepy a couple of times during the day. Last night he told us that if he cold pack his lunch he would not cry. I am willing to try almost anything at this point. Look at that happy face! Well it only lasted until we pulled up at the school. I am not sure that my heart can take this much longer. I am praying that next week will be better when he knows that I am really at work. I just hope he will not be more upset because Hannah will be here with Jacqulin.
A good part of our day is that we are going to Ruth's tonight for an ice cream/dessert social. I am excited to see my A.Z. Kelley family.
I am doing a Pete the Cat theme in my classroom this year. This is Pete. I am going to put him on my door. I will post a picture of the completed door soon.

first day of Pre-K

WOW! How is he already in Pre-K?!?!?! I hope he will have a great year and learn a lot.

Hannah and I headed to school to keep working in my room. I got a lot of work done last week/weekend while Papa and Nana were here to keep the kids for me. I am glad that Hannah is big enough to really help me now, but also I little sad that she is growing up so fast.

Happy 11th Anniversary to Us

Today we celebrated our 11th anniversary. We went out on a date last night and had cake tonight. We are thankful that Papa and Nana are in town so we could go out and get a yummy cake made by Nana. I think Hannah and Hunter helped. I am glad to say I am happier and more in love today than I was 11 years ago. I can't wait to see what the next 11 years have in store for us.

our last day at the pool

We've had a great summer. I have loved spending time at the pool with the kids and our friends. I am sure we will be back next summer for even more fun.
These boys are so sweet!

a much better day, for the most part

Hunter has been throw up free for 24 hours so we headed to the pool. He wanted to pack his own lunch box. We had a great time at the pool.
Hannah was very quiet after her shower. I went to check on her and this is what I found. What.In.The.World. She could not tell me why she was using this brush or how it got stuck in her hair.
Here is a closer look. I tried to get it out but had not luck and not near enough patients. Thankfully Derrick has more patients than me. He put her in the bathtub and put lot, LOTS of conditioner on it. He broke the handle of my brush and was able to work the top part out. Dad to the rescue.
Hunter loves playing with handcuffs. He says, "I am going to under arrest you."
 He got "under arrested" too.
Hannah planted a bookmark from her garden book. I think it is too old, but it is really grows I will take a picture to share.
Hunter got a splinter while he was working. He went upstairs and got the tweezers for Derrick to get it out. It was a little too deep for that. He just watched as Derrick got it out with the x acto knife.
We did end the day well. We were reading in the kids Jesus calling book. As soon as we started reading the verse Hunter's face lit up. He was so excited that he knew the verse. We sing it in preschool worship. I love that he remembers it and gets so excited.

oh, it's Monday

This is not how I had planned for us to start our last week of summer. Hunter woke up sick.
 And kept getting sick.
So, we headed to the doctor. He kept complaining of his throat hurting so I wanted to make sure he did not have strep. I knew he really felt bad when he fell asleep on the way to the doctor.
The Popsicle and treasure chest helped him to feel a little better.
No strep, just a virus, that is hopefully short lived and only going to effect him.
He has not been sick anymore all day and seems to feel much better. Thankfully no one else has been sick. Hopefully we can enjoy the rest of our last week of summer.

sweet neighbors

We come home to fresh veggies at least three times a week from our sweet neighbors. I am so glad they like to share.
