Hannah meeting Hunter

Derrick went to pick Hannah up from school so she could come meet Hunter. He came home and changed her clothes before bringing her to the hospital. She was very quiet when she first came in. She smiled at him and wanted to touch him. She sat on the bed with me and held him for a minute, then she said, "I do not want to hold him anymore." She opened her presents from him, a Big Sister Dora DVD and I'm the Big Sister book. The funniest event of night was when I changed his poopy diaper. Hannah wanted to watch. She said, "Ooh his poop is black, mine is brown." Every time I would wipe his little bottom he would poop more, then he peed on his little shirt. Hannah said, "We have got to teach him to go pee and poop in the potty." She gave him kisses before she left and told him see would see him tomorrow.

Hunter's first day

These are pictures of Hunter we took throughout the day.

Thursday's Baby

What do you get for having a baby so early in the morning? To be Thursday's baby. Hunter had his first video and photo shoot before he was even 8 hours old. Here is his picture that will be up in the hospital for the week and you can go to baptisthospital.com, Childbirth services, Thursday's baby and click on April 2 to see the video that will be on News 4 at 10.

Hunter decided to come

Dr. Smallwood made it just in time to deliver Hunter.
Hunter is a good eater.
My thought: WOW that was the hardest thing I have ever done, but he was worth every pain.
Look at that sweet face.

I guess all I needed to do was say he was never going to come out. I woke up this morning at 3:41 am and my back was killing me. I woke Derrick up and he got me some water to see if that would help. It did not. Derrick went ahead and got in the shower I brushed my teeth, washed my face, and got a few small things together to take to the hospital. We left the house at 4:20 am and my contractions were becoming very regular, strong and close together. When we got to the hospital and checked in the I told the nurse I felt like he was coming. She said okay let me check you and we will see. She checked me and said, "Wow you are a 9 3/4." She called down and said, "We need a delivery room, NOW!" They quickly moved me to a delivery room where they told me there was no time for an epidural. That had been my biggest fear was that I would get to the hospital and be too far along to get an epidural. They said they could try but it probably would not work, I told them fine, just get him out. At 5:17am he was born. Having him with no drugs was not easy, but not as bad as I had imagined it would be. He weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. We were glad to see Hunter Michael Hood, even though it was very early in the morning.

can you hear her laughing?

photo shoot

Derrick took these sweet pictures of Hannah and my belly tonight. She did great! Thanks Dad for taking our picture. You always do a great job. Here is one picture. I will have him send me more later to post.

what she learns at school

She drew this in the art center today. She told the teacher to look at all of her snakes. She said they were so cute in the garden.
Her painted spider.
Her green dotted spider. She says spiders are green in the video.

This week at school Hannah is learning about bugs/insects. Today on the way home she said, "Listen to what I can say." She said most of Little Miss Muffet by herself. She told me that spiders have eight legs and held up 8 fingers. I wanted to get her saying Little Miss Muffet and Itsy Bitsy Spider on video. While she was getting ready for bed she started telling me the story, There Was an Old Lady. She can retell most of it. I know I have the book at school, but I am not sure if I have it here. I need to get a video of her telling it. She had a good day today. Yeah!!! 2 in a row.

update on Hunter

I really think he is never coming out. The doctor said I am measuring 38 weeks and listened to his heart beat. I am glad Derrick was with me because I thought to myself, is she sure she heard it. He said he was not sure he did. She said I am dilated to 4.5. I asked if that was enough for her to send me to the hospital to have him. She laughed and said no. She said she can't schedule an induction until 39 weeks, which will be next week. She did say that she is on call this weekend so if I start having contractions to come to the hospital and she will not send me home and will break my water. We will see. I would like to be able to go to the Easter Egg hunt with Hannah on Saturday, so Saturday night would be a great time to go into labor. I would also like him to be born on April 5 since Hannah was born on March 5. I also know that I am not in control of when he comes.

This morning Hannah was rubbing my belly and talking to Hunter. I asked her what she thought he would look like. She said he would have brown hair like mine and blue eyes like her. I can't wait to see what he looks like. Derrick thinks he will look just like Hannah and my mom, Nana, thinks he will look like me, brown hair and brown eyes.

Last night when I was getting Hannah ready for bed this was our conversation

Hannah: Mom, I do not want to sleep in my big girl bed.
Me: Why not? Where will you sleep?
Hannah: I want to sleep in Hunter's bed.
Me: We do not have Hunter's bed ready yet.
Hannah: Yes you do, in your room.
Me: No that is the pack n play and you are too big for it.
Hannah: I will just lay in it and not break it.

I was so sad to put her in her big girl bed. I think she finally realizes that Hunter is coming to our house and she will no longer be the baby. I know she will love him, but think she may have a harder time adjusting than I thought.
