NY day 3

There was a little excitement while we were visiting Top of the Rock. One of the cameras caught on fire and the plastic melted and was blowing off. A piece of it hit my arm. It hurt, but I am fine. One little boy got burnt really bad and had to be taken to the hospital.
We are staying at a nice hotel and we are on the quiet side. This is our view. Good thing we are spending much time in our room.

Today we did training with Andrew and went for a prayer walk. We walked past this and I thought it was a great remember from God. I am excited to see what He has in store for us this week while we are here.

NY day 2

It was great to worship at Graffiti 2 this morning. I'm excited to work here this week.

After we ate lunch we went to the 9/11 museum.
It was very emotional. I am glad we went but I'm not sure I could have gone before now. There are really not words to describe it. If you are ever in NY you should go.
 More sight seeing!
We went to Top of the Rock so we could see the whole city.
I'm glad I get to serve with this guy all week.
 Rockefeller Center
I love to watch the Today Show during the summer and when I have breaks from school.
Time Square at night is a bright place.
Yummy dessert to end our night!

NY day 1

After we checked in the hotel, had a meeting and showered we headed out to enjoy the city. We are staying in the Bronx so we got to ride the bus then the subway. If you know me well you know I do not do public transportation. Well, I am going to overcome that fear this week for sure. I'm glad I have Derrick with me. I think he has no fear! Our first stop was Grand Central Station. We ate a late lunch here and looked around then headed to Time Square.
WOW! That is about all I can say about Time Square. I have always thought that I would like to be here for New Year's Eve, but after  seeing how busy and crazy it is in July I'm good to watch it on TV.
I'm glad Derrick and I get to serve together this week at Graffiti 2 and explore New York. I love doing life with him.
See the new World Trade Center instantly brought back memories of being in college and 9/11. We are going to the 9/11 Memorial Museum tomorrow.
Deborah told us to ride the ferry at night so we could see the city lights. We thought we should do it tonight because we were not sure if we would be back this way any other nights.
After teaching first graders about the Statue of Liberty for two years it was neat to see it. I would like to go back sometime and go to statue, but for this trip seeing it was good enough.
I wish we would have packed a real camera. This is the best my phone would do.
The city is beautiful at night. We had a great first day enjoying the city. We are tired and going to get some rest so we will be ready to worship at Graffiti 2 in the morning.

NY here we come

We were the last two to get on the bus, and the whole bus might have been waiting on us, but we made it and we are ready to go! Derrick really is happy to ride a bus for the next 18 hours.
I was happy I bought these. I can't go to sleep without brushing my teeth. On the bus this will have to do. Good night, hopefully I can get a little sleep while sitting up.

so quiet

Derrick and I have the best parents, which means our kids have the best grandparents. My parents left with the kids this morning headed back to SC. Derrick and I are going to New York for a mission trip. My parents will have the kids until Sunday then they will take them to Mike and Nene's for the rest of the time we are gone. Mike and Nene will bring them back to us. That is service! Since we don't leave until tomorrow and I am mostly packed I am enjoying a little time on the porch this morning. It is way to quiet in the house. Thanks Papa, Nana, Mike and Nene for taking care of the kids for us while we are gone. You all are the best!
Starting a new book sine it is quiet and I am about to ride on a bus for 18 hours.

I think Whiskers wants to go with us.

a good book, beautiful butterfly and BKC night 3

This was a challenging book to read, but really made me think. I highly recommend it.
We love that the butterflies are enjoying the beautiful flowers MeMe planted as much as we are.
 Signing their hearts out!
Listening to the Bible story and reviewing all they learned this week.

I'm so glad all of these friends came this week. I hope they will come back next year!
Snack time! I'm not sure why I did not take any pictures of Rec, but I am thankful Jacqulin, Reagan and Maddie came to do Rec with the kids.
I had the privilege of teaching these sweet girls this past year. They stole my heart on the first day of school. I am so glad they came this week. It was nice to see them during the summer.

BKC at our house

We were excited to host this year. It was fun to be able to invite some of the kids I teach and get to share the Good News with them. We had a good group for night one.
