snow day #7 and #8

Sunday we did not have church because the parking lot was an ice skating rink. We had a nice morning at home and then went to SNC (small group). We were happy to meet with friends and finish our study You and Me Forever.  You should read it and watch the videos at here.

We had a nice dinner and got the play with the newest member of the Bussell family.

Today Hunter slept in, until 8:40. He is not going to like getting back up for school when we go back. He loves to sleep on the couch.
Then he wanted a piece of toast, hot chocolate and cold pizza.

Hunter had a couple of places on his teeth that I was worried about so I called the dentist this morning. They said I could bring them on to have their teeth cleaned and they would check him out. Hannah was so excited that she will not have to go late to school in a couple of weeks. On the way they were talking about what flavor they would choose to have their teeth cleaned with. Hunter wanted grape and Hannah wanted mint. They talked about how Dr. McNutt would could their teeth and how "the girl" would floss them and clean them so good. It made me laugh. They get their love for the dentist from me. Hunter has two little sugar bugs (cavities) one on each side in the back of his mouth. Since we have no school tomorrow we are going back to the dentist to get them filled. He is excited we are going back and is already thinking about what movie he wants to watch while they work on his teeth. He is a little sad they are not giving him a silver tooth.
When I came home from the Y this was waiting on my desk. Hannah much have decided they needed to do a little school work. I love that she made the test and he took them.
We are ready for snow day #9 tomorrow!

snow day #6

What? I did not do anything mom! He had been on a hurt and brought back a "prize" which I will spare you the picture of. He was so proud of himself.

I think some of the ice/snow is melting. SLOWLY ever so SLOWLY!
It is still thick on the CRV.
That ice is so think. Derrick has to use four wheel drive to get in and out of the driveway.
We had a lazy day in our pjs all day. Hunter told me this morning that he loved days when we stay in our pjs. I was sitting in my room reading and Hunter came to my room. He just wanted to sit with me. We are sad there is no church tomorrow. We are still having small group so we will get out for that.

snow day #5

Hanging on to his cookie sheet!
 He needed to run!
Checking it all out, still frozen!
 She loves making snow angels
He decided to just sit down and slide down the hill instead of trying to walk down it, pretty smart!
 Working on a snowman.

When they came in to warm up Hannah asked if she could help count Box Tops. She did one bag.
 Icicle check - still there!
Whiskers does not know what to do. He loves to go outside but does not like the cold/ice/snow. A nap was his best choice.

It started snowing again about three this afternoon.

More snow was Hunter's cue to go out and start working on his snowman again. He is determined to build a snowman.

I love to watch it snow. It is so peaceful and calming.
 A little more sledding.
 One more snow angel.
Team work to  get the snowman built.
SUCCESS! Look how happy he is!

I went to fold clothes and found this. What a nice surprise. Hannah folded all the clothes when I asked her to fold hers.
Look who came to check out the snowman. They used a real carrot for the nose. We will look tomorrow and see if she ate it. It is way to cold and yucky to go back out tonight to see.

snow day #4

We all got out of the house today. After a little hot water, scraping, and patients Derrick got all of the ice off the car so we could open the back and load the things we needed to take toe consignment drop off.
He is such a great husband! I'm glad he is mine and like one of my friends pointed out he is really cute too!

Since we were out of the house we made the most of it. We dropped consignment off, went to the store, delivered some blueberries to some friends who can't get out of their driveway, went to picked up gear Derrick needs for work tomorrow, ate a late lunch at Chick-fil-A and went to another place to pick up a little more gear.
Hannah could not take the excitement of being out of the house. She almost never falls asleep in the car. Hunter was not a fan of her sleeping. He kept trying to wake her up.
He had fallen asleep on our why to drop consignment. Hannah did not try to wake him up while he was sleeping. Just look at that face, it has trouble written all over it.
We were excited to see one small spot had started to melt in the driveway. I think it is going to take a lot more sunshine to clear our driveway.
One icicle is continuing to grow. We are waiting for more snow/sleet/freezing rain tomorrow.

snow day #3

We woke up to about an inch of snow!
I started the day with a little reading and coffee. (Hunter slept until 8:30!!!!)
Hannah started her day with a little song writing.
We went outside before lunch today. Hannah loved that we could see Whisker's paw prints in the snow. Gypsy wants no part of the cold or snow. She is a smart cat.
The kids thought about trying to build a snowman, it did not last long.
Derrick spent his morning cleaning water out of the garage. At least we know the ice is starting to melt, right?
 Snow angels!
They used the cookie sheets for shovels today. They learned cookie sheets only work well for sleds on ice.
The snow was piled up pretty high in the driveway.
I think snow makes everything so pretty.
Hunter thought this snow was good for eating.
Derrick worked on breaking up the ice so as it melted it would hopefully run away from the house and not into the garage.
Even the bricks are covered in ice! I have never seen so much ice.
Just having fun digging in the snow.
 That is some thick ice!

I see this as a sign of another successful day.
The kids have loved all of the icicles. They wanted to break these off but they are too high to reach.
Since I seem to not be able to walk on the ice without falling, I decided to stay in. I read for a while, did a little work and then started pinning tag for consignment. I will finish that tomorrow. I am loving time at home with the whole family and no where to go. Derrick did go to the store today because we were out of milk and bread and a few other things. We are set now and ready for more snow on Friday!
