lazy day playing

Since Hannah woke up with a fever this morning, we did not go to church. Hannah has rediscovered the books and puzzles we put in the cabinets in the living room. She will sit and read and do puzzles for long periods of time. When she was finished reading and doing puzzles she got her babies to play with. At school they must cover them up and then pat their backs. She is very into covering everything up and patting its back. I love to watch her play with her babies and listen to her talk to them.

What makes a girl feel better?

Getting her toes done. After giving Hannah her bath this morning I polished her toes. She wanted to see all of the polish I had. I sat out four choices and she chose pink. Imagine that! She sat on the counter and let me paint them, then dry her hair while her toes dried. When I put her down, she said, "Thanks mom, they are so pretty."

She seems to feel a little better this morning. I took her to the doctor yesterday because she is coughing and has a runny nose. I wanted to make sure she was not wheezing. She was not but the doctor wants us to go back to Pulmicort twice a day and Albuterol three times a day through the weekend. She said if she is not better by Monday to call her back. She woke up at 4:30 this morning and had thrown up and had a fever of 102.5. We put her in the bed with us and gave her some Tylenol. She did not have a fever when I put her down for nap. I hope she is on her way to getting over this bad cold. I am glad we all have the day off tomorrow.

fun with MeMe and Pop Pop

We were glad to have MeMe and Pop Pop come to spend the weekend with us. Hannah was happy to see them when we got out of the car Thursday night from Kindermusik. She went to school on Friday and dad got the spend with day with them. Yesterday Hannah spent the whole day with them, while Derrick worked and I went to school to work and to get my toes done. They had to leave this morning to go back to SC. Hannah says she is going to MeMe's house tomorrow. Thanks for coming and spending the weekend with us.

making connections

The other day when we were coming home from school Hannah was talking. She said, "Mama, you are Nana and Papa's daughter." I said, "Yes I am." Then she said, "But you are my baby." I told her no that she is my baby. She did not like that. I am impressed that she able to make some of the connections. That is a hard thing but she is learning all of the family connections.

milk & cookies

That is the theme for Kindermusik this semester. When we pulled up tonight Hannah said, "There is Ms. Amy's house." She was very excited to see Ms. Amy and all of her friends. She did really well following Ms. Amy's directions and participating. She is very fun to watch and listen to.

rain, rain, rain

We had lots of rain this week. I think it was Monday night that Hannah wanted to sit on the porch and watch the rain. She liked hearing the rain and watching it. I am amazed at the things she pays attention to and helps to do. I am glad we have to covered porch to sit on the listen to it rain. It was very relaxing.

nite nite dad

Hannah likes to cover you up with blankets now. Derrick was getting her ready for bed and all of the sudden it got really quiet. I went to check on them and this is what I found. Hannah told him to lay down and was covering him up. She would then sit by him and pat this back. At school Miss Amanda and Miss Paige pat the children's backs to get them to sleep. I got her to lay down with Derrick and I patted both of their backs. She is so big and misses nothing.

such a big helper

Mama was helping me tear my math books apart. Hannah wanted to help too. Thanks Mama for all of your help. You saved me a lot of time.

watching the deer

Uncle Kyle was very quiet and was able to get on the porch and not scare the deer. Hannah whispered while they were outside and that did not scare the deer. The flash on the camera scared them a little. Hannah likes to see the deer and is getting good at whispering so she will not scare them.

chase me

Hannah has had lots of fun playing with Uncle Kyle today. She tells him to chase her and then they run and jump on his bed. She is wild! I am glad they both have so much energy.

a friend at gymnastics

There was another little girl at gymnastics tonight. Hannah did much better tonight. She is still a little more interested in what the big kids are doing. She likes Miss Sara and does very well for her. I did not take the camera tonight since I was there by myself with her. It is too hard to take pictures and keep her away from the big kids.

rainbow bread

At my school, we kicked off color days today. We had rainbow bread for snack. There was a little left so I brought it home for Hannah. She liked it, but did not want me to take her picture eating it. (That is why she looks so happy in the picture.)

new Sunday School class

We missed promotion Sunday because we were in SC, so today was Hannah's first day in her new class. She is all alone, not really, but Ty, Kylie and Anna Claire are not in her class. The class she is in is for Oct. 2005 - March 2006 birthdays. She did well. She was very excited to wear the potty training bracelet. I am glad she did not cry. We just have to make sure we do not walk with Ty, Kylie or Anna Claire, because then we may have a problem.

check the Sumner's blog

Aunt Debbie posted pictures of the fun things they did with Hannah when they kept her for me on July 30. Click on the Sumner Family to the right to see all the fun she had. Thanks Aunt Debbie and Jacqulin for the pictures and for keeping her.

Kylie's Birthday Party

Hannah had a great time at Kylie's party. She enjoyed playing in the water, watching/catching bubbles and eating cake. Thanks for inviting us, we had a great time.

I need dad's socks

Last weekend Derrick tried to take Hannah's picture in his socks and shoes. By the time he got a camera she had them off. This morning I was doing some work on the computer and she asked for some of dad's socks. She would not look at me, but I thought she looked cute in the socks up to her bottom.

potty training update

Last Friday when I picked Hannah up from "school" her teacher asked me if I had thought about sending her in big girl panties. I told her that I let her wear panties at home, but I make her go to the bathroom every 30 minutes. We decided that I would send her in panties on Monday and we would see what happened. She had one accident on Monday, two accidents on Tuesday, NO accidents on Wednesday (at school), one accident on Thursday, two accidents on Friday. I know it sounds like a lot, but they are only taking her potty every two hours. I guess if she asks to go before they let her. She has not had any accidents today. She even went to the potty without me asking. I heard her calling me and went to find her. (She needed me to wipe her bottom.) She asked to go potty twice in Wal-Mart and was still dry when I put her down for nap. I talked to her teacher on Friday and this is plan she came up with for school: week 1 - bring her in a pull-up, if she stays dry all morning they will put panties on her after nap. Week 2 - bring her in a pull-up and they will give her the choice of panties or pull-up at the first potty break. (Miss Amanda says she always wants panties.) Week 3- nothing but panties, except at naptime. We will see how it works. The only time I have a problem with her having an accident is when we are in the car. If anyone has any suggestions about that, please send them my way. I am very proud of the progress she has made in just a few weeks. I know we will get there, sooner or later.

week 2 at "school"

Hannah had a much better second week being dropped off. Last week she cried everyday when I dropped her off. I would call back to check on her and she would be fine. This week, I think, she cried a little on Monday but the rest of the week went in just fine. The theme for the week was sports mania. She made some cute painting and enjoyed playing different sports. She loves Miss Amanda and Miss Paige. I think it has helped this week that Ty was there all week. She did get bit twice this week. She has a bruise on both arms. (I guess that is part of it.) She told us who bit her and that she told them, "NO!" and Miss Amanda told them "NO!" Hopefully next week will be another successful week without any new bites.

jump, jump, jump

our little gymnast

We took Hannah to gymnastics tonight. She was not sure about it at first but warmed up after about 10 minutes. She did stretches before doing an obstacle course. She then went to the balance beam, which she did really well on. She even let go and did not hold on to Miss Sara. She was very excited to get on the trampoline. She then went to the bars to "swing" before going to the big trampoline. I gave Derrick the camera to take her picture on the bars and the big trampoline but he did not take any pictures. She is the only child enrolled in the class at this time, but hopefully more children will come. I think she would also like to have Miss Sara all to herself, so maybe will will get "private" lessons this session. She did not want to leave and enjoyed watching the big kids doing their gymnastics.

whirl wind trip to SC

Eating at McDonald's.
Let's Wee One give her kisses.
Hannah would run and jump on the couch and Wee One would run behind her and jump on the couch also. Hannah thought it was so funny and did it at least a million times.
Notice the red nose and open mouth. This was after about a solid 45 minutes of screaming!!!!
Finally she went to sleep!!!!!!! To bad we were only 20 minutes from the house.

We went to SC this weekend for our ten year high school reunion. We had a great time at the reunion, but it was a really rushed trip. We picked Derrick up at the Jack Daniel's exit Friday night about 6:30. He had been at Jack Daniel's working all week. We ate dinner at McDonald's then got on the road. We got to Mike and Nene's about 1:30. Hannah woke up, but sat with Nene while we unpacked what we needed from the car and went right back to sleep. We got up Saturday morning and got ready to start the visiting. We went to MeMe and Pop Pop's first, then to Great Papa's and Grandma Edna's, then grabbed some lunch on the way to MeMa and Papa Charlie's, next to Nana and Papa's, where we also got to see Uncle Kyle and Jackson, the last stop we did with Hannah was back to Mike and Nene's to get ready to go to the reunion. Aunt Lori came over and we were able to see her for a minute. While we finished getting ready Mike, Nene, Aunt Lori and Hannah went to Chick-fil-a to eat and play before going to Cindy and Steve's to swim. Hannah was able to also see Nannie while she was with Mike and Nene. When they were finished swimming and see all the animals they took her to Nana and Papa's to spend the night. We met Nana and Papa at IHOP Sunday morning at 8am to eat breakfast and get Hannah so we could get back to TN. I had to be at school at 4pm for Meet the Teacher. We had a TERRIBLE ride home, but made it back in time for me to get to school. We were glad we got to see everyone, even though it was not for long. Hopefully next time we come to SC it will be for longer than 48 hours and we can spend more time with everyone.

what a summer

Well, I have to go back to work on Wednesday. I have been working in my room some, but summer is officially over for me on Wednesday. Hannah started "school" full time today. She cried for a minute when I dropped her off, but when her teacher asked her to help find the paint brushes, there were no more tears.

We have had a great summer. We are all moved in the house and starting to think about what we are going to do to it. Derrick has stained the steps and they look great. I will have to take a picture to post. Hannah says they are dirty because they are brown.

I feel like she has grown up so much this summer. She no longer takes a paci and now does not ask for it at all. She is potty training and doing well. She does great with us, but at "school" and church she wears a pull-ups and wets it occasionally. Both giving up the paci and potty training have gone way better than I expected. She is learning new things everyday. She can sing lots of songs, ABC's, Old McDonald, Twinkle, Twinkle, Jesus Loves Me, Baa, Baa Black Sheep, Zacchaeus, I'm A Little Tea Pot, Happy Birthday, Mary Had a Little Lamb, etc. (That is all I can think of right now.) She knows her colors, shapes, the letters H, T, K, and Z, and the number 2. She can draw a line, circle, and the letter H. She can count to 13.We can understand 99.9% of what she says. She is also growing physically. She is now 35 inches tall and weighs 28.5 pounds. She is more independent than ever. She has been well since the first of June. She just started sneezing and having a runny nose yesterday. (Derrick says welcome to daycare, I think it is allergies.)

I have enjoyed being home with her all summer. We have also enjoyed Derrick being off and getting to spend time with us. I am sad to go back to work and not be with her everyday, but glad we have made so many good memories this summer. I am sure it will be summer again before we know it.

I need my noculars

Hannah now has her own pair of binoculars. (Thanks Mike and Nene!) Derick was looking at the deer and she said, "I need my noculars to see the deer too." She still turns them the wrong way because it is easier for her to see with them. She was happy to see the deer, they have not been out much lately.

my wear you shoes

Derrick and I went shopping for something to wear to our 10 year high school reunion next weekend today. Hannah thought it was fun to try on my new shoes. She had them on the wrong feet. I have on one of each color to see what I liked best with an outfit. She came to me and told me she was just like me. She is good at walking in a little heel.
