Wacky Wednesday

Hannah was so excited to dress for Wacky Wednesday. Last night she asked me if I remember how I tried to fix her hair last year when she was at her old school (pre-K). I told her I thought so. She said well good because this year I want you to fix my hair that way and I will like. it. This morning on the way to school she said that she put the pink sock with the white shoes because a pink sock with a pink shoes would not be very wacky. That comment made me laugh really hard. I think she looks precious.
Just to give you the full effect of the outfit.
This is her drawing of herself today. Her leggings are sparkly, but that is not show up good in the picture.

Here is a video of her talking about Wacky Wednesday. It cut our the end when I emailed to put on here. She said the best part of the day was they got to do centers first thing this morning and did not have to do morning work.

jump rope

Hannah is learning to jump rope in PE. She is catching on. She has practiced everyday that it has been nice outside. She told me today that you have to jump when you hear it hit the ground/floor. She is getting good. She is very determined. I think she will be good to go later this week for Jump Rope for Heart.

Yes that was the cat you saw. She, we think, is still here.

Cat in the Hat

Hannah is getting to celebrate Read Across America week. Today was Cat in the Hat day. Doesn't she look cool in her glasses. I love her!!!!!!

sheep

You never know what you will see when you look in the backyard. This morning it was sheep. They belong to the neighbor across the street. The little lambs are so cute and playful. I think I would be a little scared of the daddy with the huge horns. They were pretty exciting to watch.

a new pet?

No your eyes are not playing tricks on you, that is a cat in our house. Last Tuesday when I came home from the Y, Hannah asked if I saw her cat. I told her I did not and that I did not know she had a cat. She quickly informed me that she did and Dad let her feed it. I figured it would be like the dog that came and stayed with us Christmas Eve. Well it was still here today. I was working consignment and while I was gone they decided to let it in the house. They all assure me it is really sweet. I guess if it is going to stick around we should take it to the vet and get a litter box. It is really sweet with the kids. It even lets Hunter pick it up and pull on its tail. I will keep you posted.

he is my child

Derrick said, "You might want to go take a picture of what your son did." I am glad he likes to be neat and organized. He is really good about putting his shoes in his room everyday when he takes them off.

just what I needed

I was having a not so great day with my class. I opened my door to go ask Mrs. Russell something and saw my sweet Hannah coming down the hall. I asked her what she was doing and she said, "I am coming to read you my journal." She melted my heart. She was so proud of herself. Just in case you are not up on reading kindergarten writing it says" I love my mama because she is the best and kindest mom in the world I love her with all my heart. I am happy she is at school with me and guess what I love you too." She said the guess what I love you too was for Mrs. Smith. I love her and I am glad she is at school with me too. She has grown up and learned so much already this year.

consignment time

I love shopping consignment. I was able to shop Thursday at 3 because I work 3 six hour shifts and one 4 hour sort. I was able to work Friday night and Saturday because Mike and Nene came to spend the weekend with us. Hannah and Hunter were happy they picked them up Friday from school and they were able to spend the whole day with them Saturday. We went to church this morning and then out to lunch before they had to leave. Thanks for coming to keep the kids while Derrick and I worked. They had a great time.

caught up

I have finally caught up will all the post for Jan. and Feb. There are still a couple of videos I want to upload but blogger is not cooperating. Hope you enjoy catching up on all the fun we had in January.

dentist

Both kids got a great report from the dentist. Hunter was the so excited to be there he could hardly stand himself. As soon as their names were called he quickly informed the hygienist that he had to lay in the chair by Hannah. She smiled and kindly agreed with him. When I was called back he was proudly sitting in the chair watching Thomas and Hannah was in Dr. McNutt's chair beside him. Hunter has ten teeth on top and ten on the bottom and they all look great. Hannah is getting one of her bottom six year molars and the other bottom one is close to breaking through. He said he would be a while before the top ones came in. She thought it was neat to have pictures of her teeth. He said to keep wiggling her tooth and that the one beside it is a little loose. She still has an under bite but he is ok with it until her permanent teeth come in then he will see if we need to do anything. Hunter left with at least 5 prizes. They were both excited to get water bottles or as Hunter calls them water, water bottles. Yea for healthy teeth!

good memory

Tonight we were talking and telling the kids they have to go to the dentist in the morning. Hannah is excited to show Dr. McNutt her loose tooth, but has not had much more to say. Hunter has said that he is going to lay in those chairs and they will turn on that big light and look in his mouth at all his teeth with the little tiny mirror. Derrick and I were rolling. I need to try to video him telling about it. I have not had good luck getting videos to upload. I am just impressed that he remembers so many details from six months ago. I will let you know tomorrow how the trip to the dentist turns out.

Happy Valentine's Day

Good morning! Heart shaped chocolate chip muffins for breakfast.
All the Valentine's waiting for us when we get home from school/work.
 Hannah with her Valentine.
 Hannah and Mrs. Smith.
All my Valentine's from my sweet kids at school.
Breakfast for dinner, prepared by Dad. Heart shaped pancakes. They were very yummy!

Opening all the Valentine goodies! It was like Christmas.
Happy Valentine's Day from the Hood's. Sending hugs to you all!
We were glad that Uncle Kyle ate dinner with us. Hannah and Hunter sure do love him. Derrick and I do too!

Hunter got this balloon from Ms. Marie and had to carry it around all night. He said he needed it in his room to sleep. He LOVES Ms. Marie.
I think he is a little confused about what holiday we were celebrating or he is ready early for St. Patrick's Day. He has to sleep in some type of "exercise" pants and a t-shirt every night. He could care less if it matched and it drives Hannah and I crazy. He has a mind of his own.

togetherness

I love that everyone always ends up in the kitchen. They were very entertaining while I cooked dinner.

Valentine Cookies

Hannah wanted me to make pink, purple and red heart cookies with white dots for her class.
Hunter wanted "silly signs" on the cookies for his class. I did the "silly signs" in white for his class, but he wanted one with purple. I only took a picture of his cookies with my phone.
I am glad I have such good taste testers. Hannah wanted her cookie to have stripes on it. They did not even wait for the icing to dry.
I have big plans of writing on the solid colored cookies to make them look like conversation hearts, but I ran out of time and energy to do that. Maybe next year I will start a little earlier.

visiting with Nana and Papa

We were glad to have Nana and Papa here for the weekend. Dad was out of town and I was glad to have extra help. It was nice to have no plans and just get to spend time together. Hannah was a little sad that Hunter got to stay home on Friday while she was at school. She was happy that Papa was able to take and pick her up from school. We also celebrated Valentine's with them a little early. Thanks Papa and Nana for coming to visit and all of our Valentine's goodies. We love you both!

Valentine's project

Hannah traced the heart and Dad cut it out. They make a good team. She loves doing projects and Dad loves to help her. I am thankful for this!!!!
The finished project. I know there is a bad glare but they are both smiling.
No glare but Dad was not smiling .
She was so excited to show me the finished product. She is even more excited to take it to school tomorrow.

our big boy

No you are not seeing things, he is playing the iPad while he is using the potty. He thought it was a great idea. I told him that is not where we play it.
Sitting on Papa's bed in all the laundry I need to fold and but away is a much better place to play the iPad, right?
Today Dad took the crib down and got Hunter a big boy bed. He is going to build him a bed so we just have the mattress for now. He is so excited.
He looks so little sitting in this new big boy bed.
He really is a big boy now. He has been sleeping in his big boy underwear for over a month now and has only had one accident. We are so proud of him. He is growing up way to fast!!!

big boy

He looks so little in his big boy bed.
Hunter now has a big boy mattress. Derrick is going to build his bed, hopefully soon. Until then he is happy to have his mattress on the floor. I think he thinks that is normal because our bed and the guest bed (better know as Papa's bed) and Uncle Kyle's bed all sit on the floor as well. We still have to get him some more pillows but that can wait until we get this whole bed. He has also been sleeping in big boy underwear  for over a month. He has only had one accident. We are so proud of him. It is hard to believe that he is almost three. Where has the time gone?

100th Day of School

Hannah was so excited that today was the 100th day of school. Last night on the way to church she said, "Mom can you believe that tomorrow is already the 100th day of school. I am so excited!" It is a little hard to believe at times, then at other times I feel like we have been in school for 200 days. She was very excited to wear her 100 shirt that Nene made for her. She looks much happier than I do at 6:40 in the morning.
Doing a little 100th Day work.
 Standing outside her classroom door.

I was so happy to see this picture. I had a meeting during my planning time and did not get to go take any pictures. I took my camera to lunch and asked Mrs. Smith if she would take a few pictures of Hannah for me. All these pictures are the ones she took for me. She is the best!!! Mrs. Sounders does not always have red and black hair, even though it is a nice look. She is Zero the Hero and made her big reveal today. Hannah had asked earlier in the year if Zero the Hero was Mrs. Saunders. I told her no. She was very happy to tell me today that I was wrong.
This is her collection of 100 buttons. She really enjoyed her 100th Day of Kindergarten. She said her favorite part was licking a lolly pop 100 times. Thanks Mrs. Smith for taking pictures for me and for making her 100th day so great.
