Polar Express Day

I am blessed to work with such wonderful ladies. There are not too many jobs that allow to wear your pj's to work. I am glad I have a job that does.

more baking

Hannah had Polar Express day at her school today. She did not get to drink hot chocolate at school because I picked her up to early. She did not get upset about it, she just asked if I would fix her some at home. I fixed her some and she and Dad had a cookie with it. She took one sip and said she did not think she liked it.

I signed up to bring dessert to our faculty potluck and thought I would try a new cookie. I remember my Mama making cookies that looked like these but they were peanut butter with a chocolate kiss in the middle. These are a sugar cookie type cookie rolled in colored sugar with a candy cane kiss in the middle. It took me a few trays to get them the right size. I think they were still good. Hunter thought they looked too good not to eat. I put them in the dinning room while he was in the bathtub so I could clear up the kitchen. Derrick asked me if I had given him a cookie. I told him no because he had not eaten a good dinner. Hunter decided to help himself. I asked him if he was eating one of my cookies and he said, "Um uh." I asked him if he was suppose to be eating my cookies and she said, "No" with a smile on his face. He is too cute for his own good.

baking

I love to bake. I remember my Mama baking all kind of goodies at Christmas. I need to get all of her recipes and make some of those good things. I signed up to make brownies for Hannah's Christmas party at school. I bought cute little pans shaped like Christmas trees, snowmen, and gingerbread men to use to make them. After a little trial and error I successfully made enough Christmas trees and snowmen for her to take to school. I am glad I had the whole day to make these, we had another snow day today. There are no pictures of the gingerbread men because they looked like they had been in a war. Derrick will be able to enjoy those.

snow day

We enjoyed our day at home. We were happy to have Kylie and Blake with us to help pass the time. I did not take any pictures of the kids playing today. I was happy to have Derrick home with us to help with the kids. He took this cute picture of Hunter this afternoon in the snow. He wanted to take pictures of them in different outfits, but it was just WAY to COLD. Maybe we will get more snow later and the temps will not be in the teen or low twenty's. That will make much better picture weather. I am out of school again tomorrow. I hope to finish my report cards and do some baking. I think Hannah is going to school and Hunter will stay with me, even though I am tempted to send him to and have the day alone. Does that make me a bad mom?

too funny

Hunter found Hannah's hat and boots. He loves hats and boots. He does have boy hats, but they are too hard for him to put on by himself. He does not have any boy boots yet. He got one boot on by himself and Dad helped him put the other one on. He was so proud of himself. He is too cute, even in pink.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!

We did not wake up to snow this morning, but it came later in the day. We went to church and made it home before it started snowing and sticking. On the way to church it was snowing a little and Hannah said, "I just love this time of year!" Such an adult statement. I asked her why and she said because she just does. While we were eating lunch she said something about it being winter and that God made all the seasons, summer, spring, winter and Christmas. At least she knows three of the four seasons. Hunter says snow, which sounds more like no but in a higher pitched voice. He is good at saying cold which he said each time I opened the door to get him out of the car. Hannah kept saying all afternoon, "We are going to have FUN in the snow!" I do not like to be cold and wet, but I finally gave in, bundled them up and took them on the porch for less than five minutes. There was enough snow on the porch to make Hannah happy and Hunter was not a fan at all. He does not like the wind blowing. He just kept saying COLD, COLD! I tired to get a good picture of them but Hunter was too busy trying to figure out what was all over the porch. We will be home from school tomorrow. I am not sure how I feel about already having to use a snow day, but I am glad we get to spend the day as a family.

family time

Today we spent the whole day as a family. We went to had the kids pictures made to give as Christmas presents. I can't post pictures because they are going to be presents. We left there and went to the mall. Wow was it crowded. I guess lots of people wait until two weeks before Christmas to shop. After lunch and a little shopping we headed home so Hunter could take a nap. We spent the rest of the day just hanging out at home together. Something we do not do enough of. Hannah was watching a movie in the living room and Hunter wanted to watch Elmo. I put in on the computer and he sat at the table for a while an watched it. He loves some ELMO. I was changing Hunter's sheets so I had all of the animals out of his bed. He brought them all to the living room. When it was time for bed. I told him to get his animals and but them in the bed so they could go night-night with him. He lined them up instead and was very proud of himself. I do not know why my kids have to sleep with so many things. Hope you were able to spend time with your family today.

the last night

The Bussell's have been staying with us since they sold their house in September. It has been lots of fun and worked out really well. I have learned several things from them, such as, planning meals two weeks at a time, showering at night to save time in the morning, how important it is to exercise, just to name a few. It was nice to take turn cooking and then having someone to talk to while you cleaned up the kitchen. It was nice when Derrick was out of town to have other adults to talk and not have to be home alone. I am sad that tonight is the last night they will be here. Hannah and Hunter have loved having Cooper to play with. I am thankful for the friendship we share with them. I know they will love their new house and I can't wait to see it.

Preschool Choir program

Hannah sang at church this afternoon with the Preschool choir. I am thankful for all the teachers who help with the preschool choir program. She loves it and they did a great job. We sat way in the back so I did not get any good pictures or any video. I hope that another parent was able to video it and maybe got a good picture with Hannah in it. We were happy to have Mrs. Julia with us. Thanks for your help with wild man.
